The Punch Edit (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

Being someone who has no household income right now, editing my own books is a compulsory fact of life. Editing your own work is the worst. But anyway, one of the self editing passes I did on a future book is what I decided to call the punch edit. Chronically Creative is a reader-supported publication. What makes YA? (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

A while ago, I came across a post where someone said what makes YA (young adult), YA, is the themes around identity. I understood what they were saying, and it also bothered me. I don’t think they were incorrect about it being an element of YA. What bothers me is that we think of identity as fixed. You learn who you are as a teenager and boom, that’s it. Done. No change. I am really really proud of creatives (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

I’ve been digging into books (on the store, in libraries) and adding so many to my wish list. And... uh, my list of books on my Kobo account is over 700. Granted I did use Kobo as the reading source for “stuff your kindle” type days for a few years… but yeah, I’ve got a lot of reading to do. (OH NO! Such a problem!)<div class=

Rules are hard (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

I’ve never been one for creative rules. Or, at least, I’ve been one who encourages the breaking of the rules for creativity. A few weeks ago my brain went into overdrive and I outlined a 15 book series. Yeah, that part was easy. Now I need to write them. They’re a genre that I know I won’t be able to write properly without plotting them out. The problem is, I’m a panster. I know I need the structure of plot to do these books well, but plotting also uninspires me. I know what I need to do for eac
