Two stranded hikers were rescued from a cliff in the Point Reyes National Seashore. The rescue happened Wednesday near Alamere Falls. The hikers climbed up a cliff from the beach after high tides stopped them from accessing a hiking route, said Brianna Rowland, a spokesperson for the Marin County Fire Department. A helicopter crew from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office found the hikers and conducted a rope rescue to get them to safe ground. They were not injured, Rowland said.

A kitchen fire damaged a residence in the Santa Venetia neighborhood in San Rafael. Neighbors called 911 at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday after hearing alarms and seeing smoke at a single-story residence at 125 Mabry Way, said Deputy Chief Robert Sinnott of the San Rafael Fire Department.
