    To much surprise, this year the courts decided that tech companies are liable for the harm their products cause. Importantly, it’s not for what users posted, but for how the products were built.Based on testimony and internal documents, a jury called these features defective: infinite scroll, autoplay, and push notifications, to name a few, because they undermine user autonomy. Without stopping cues, the defect isn’t accidental. It’s engineered.
