FAYETTE, Ala. — A woman from Fayette died Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash after her car left the road and hit a ditch and a tree, causing the vehicle to catch fire. 69-year-old Karon K. Collins was operating a 2018 Ford Explorer when the accident occurred at around 3:36 p.m. Sept. 15 on Fayette County 26 near Vick Road, around eight miles southeast of Fayette. ALEA said Collins was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating.

MULGA, Ala. — A man from Sylvan Springs died Wednesday due to a single-vehicle motorcycle wreck near Mulga. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 70-year-old Robert Steven Perkins was the sole rider of a motorcycle when his bike struck a utility pole on the 7900 block of Alliance Short Creek Road on Sept. 16. BESSEMER, Ala. — A Birmingham man died Thursday after being hit by a car in Bessemer earlier this week. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 44-year-old Jesse Thompson Nance was struck on the 1800 block of Fourth Avenue Southwest at around 7:33 p.m. Sept. 9. Nance was taken to UAB Hospital by emergency personnel, where he was pronounced dead at 2:03 a.m. Sept. 11. The Bessemer Police Department is investigating the incident.
