Read excerpt
The Sylacauga City Council reviewed their appropriations and contracts on Tuesday during their work session, reviewing details from the Board of Education, the Commercial Development Authority, the Beautification Council, and Feral Dogs of Avondale Mills. The Board of Education asked for $1 million. According to Superintendent Michele Eller, this is an $81,000 increase from last year; however, in 1991 the schools were funded at $1.4 million and at that time around $1 million went to local units.
