A man took his life Thursday evening following a lengthy standoff with law enforcement personnel who were trying to arrest him at a residence in the 100 block of Johnson Street, just north of Second Street, in Washington. A Franklin County Sheriffâs office spokesman said deputies attempted to arrest the man after he was indicted by a Franklin County grand jury for a âserious offense,â when he refused to exit a residence where he was staying. The standoff began around 4:30 p.m.
