It was Yom Kippor, the most solemn and reflective day of the year. September is here; the beginning of another school year, the nearing of the end of summer, the calm before the holidays. It’s a glorious time; the apples are crisp and the light divine and somehow the air knows that we need its cooperation and provides a coolness that makes us feel a bit more alive, as if the past could, at least for a moment, remain in the past.
