Science-fiction and theatre aren’t regular bedfellows, a rare exception being the Royal Lyceum Theatre’s 2019 production of Solaris, adapted from Stanislaw Lem’s cult 1961 novel. Here’s another stage take on the sci-fi genre, from the award-winning, Yorkshire based Thunder Road company which specialises in cinematic-style horror. The plot: eight million miles from earth, a space ranger named Flint picks up a distress call from an ageing research vessel called Odyssey. But where are the crew? Tra

Paintings are paintings, immutable things which stay pretty much unchanged save for the odd clean-up job from a gallery restoration team if the works are of museum quality. He began a programme of exhibitions reflecting the emerging artistic talent of Scotland. The gallery is closely associated with the Scottish Colourists, having represented all four during their lifetime, and we also represented trailblazing wom

It opened on a design comprised of seven hexagonal shapes locked together, then dissolved into six candles circling a similar shape made up of stone blocks. Those images were all superimposed on hazy shots of electric pylons, sun flares, coloured dots and what might have been passing stars. It looked like it was shot on Super 8 film, a favourite of home movie-makers. Provenance? Any time between, say, the mid-1960s and the earl
