Hi divas, dolls, and demons,To be very clear, I have been thinking about death with a normal level of trepidation - I am quite well both physically and mentally. As I said to my boss recently, ‘do you ever worry you’ll die without reaching your full potential?’That doesn’t read well. It reads like I meant he should be worried in his specific case. Nothing could be further from the truth. What I meant was whether he ever worried that we (being people in general) die with our best work still ahead

Hi divas, dolls, and demons,There’s a well known concept in Perth that most places you’ll ever be going are ‘about 20 minutes away’. Less commonly, it will be ‘around 40 mins’, also known as ‘a bit of a drive’.20 minutes is quite a nice capsule of time. It’s enough that you can make progress (or complete) a small-to-moderate task. It’s contained enough that you can’t procrastinate too much. The time ahead is not too spacious and therefore not too overwhelming. This flashback to the ‘Perth trip’

The threat is the re-emergence of ‘thin above all else’ culture. And god, is it back with a vengeance. For the last decade or close to it, we saw a real rise in body confidence and body acceptance. People were both online and in the world, deciding that there were more important things to do than fight the war
'here's to the girlhood' says woman to two friends who have all finally managed to get together (opens the original)

Hi divas, dolls, and demons,In this essay, I will be arguing that we should take back the words ‘girlhood’ and ‘gossip’.Girlhood. I am sure there are plenty of arguments for calling it womanhood, and of course there is also the sisterhood. I like the term girlhood.Girlhood to me are the spaces where we have permission to get back, even for the briefest moment in time, this:<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-qUE!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progr
