In 2014, an eon ago in bitcoin time), Gavin Andresen declared it the year of multi-signature at the Amsterdam bitcoin conference1. The idea is to “distribute the signing keys” over a threshold, to require a few signatures instead of one, and your bitcoin suddenly felt safer.
