House Bill 2014, passed by the West Virginia Legislature in 2025, allows data centers to be built in West Virginia whether citizens want them or not. The law does put some restrictions on the size of the centers, and on pollution outputs. The restrictions put on the data centers are considered too lenient by many citizens in the areas where the data centers are being built.
