I arrived late one June evening in the heart of a bustling city and at the wrong address. I grappled with my oversized, overweight suitcase, a backpack, and a tote bag as I frantically searched my phone for where I was supposed to be, my Uber driver no longer anywhere in sight. A security guard inside the building where I stood, which was definitely not a hotel, looked over on his way out the door for a shift change and completed the “lost lady in city” scene with a gruff, “This is not a hotel.”
