It was a tunnel of trees. The huge two-story tall hardwood trees, likely beech and maples, created a towering canopy overhead. It was lovely as I pedaled along the gravel-surface at the start of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. This pathway, open to those on foot, bicycle or horseback, extends about 22 miles along the former Wallkill Valley Railroad rail corridor in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
