So I was in my Wisdom of the Sages Bhagavad Gita class at 5:30 this morning, you know, as one does. And the leader, Tara Das, made an interesting point about bhajans—the singing of devotional songs in ancient Sanskrit or other languages (and if you’re thinking this is a bit esoteric or obtuse, I only learned what a bhajan was this morning myself). He said something along the lines that when writing began, in human history, we started to lose our ability to remember.That really got me thinking. M
