SEVENTEEN people have been airlifted to safety after a fishing boat ran aground off the coast of Orkney. A major rescue mission was launched after a Spanish fishing boat hit rocks at the Old Man of Hoy, off the west coast of the island, at around 6.30am on Thursday.
