Agatha Van Helsing (opens the original)

In the run up to Salome, I’m talking about the things that inspired this book and the characters within it. One of the major influences was Agatha Van Helsing, a character created for the BBC production of Dracula written by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat. It was loosely based on the 1897 Stoker novel, with its own modern spin however, the start of this series began in the 19th century where we meet Agatha Van Helsing. Stationed in a convent in Budapest, Agatha is fascinated
Writing The Vampyre (opens the original)

When writing my upcoming Gothic mystery, Salome, I was a bit worried about venturing into well-trodden territory. Vampires, or Vampyres, as they are written in the book. Salome came out of nowhere. I’m hoping to get it finished in the autumn and ready for release in the winter of 2027. I haven’t got any fresh fiction or micro fiction or even snippets of stuff this week. I’ve got nothing. And that’s all part of the process for me. Writing a novel: the bumps are actually knots. Each time I sit down to write a novel (especially when it’s another instalment of a s
Substack Exclusive: Interview With Daniel Muldoon. (opens the original)
