Tending to the edges (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

Alongside teaching Childbirth Education, sowing seeds (and saving what’s in the field) at the Farm, moving my body intentionally (my neck is aching and that’s what I get for doing ‘too much’ the last few days), I have tending to the edges on my to-do list for the weekend. This looks like quite literally tending to sheep hides, which ask for extra care in how we clean and stretch their edges, rejuvenating our backyard garden (it needs a good dose of compost & some fresh seeds for Autumn/Winter),

Pumpkin spice as a cultural replacement (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

Has anyone considered the reason we love the rituals of Autumn so much, and the ~aesthetic~, is because we crave a way of honoring the seasons, the earth, the spices shifting, the rhythms swaying, and in our bland capitalistic waste land this is the closest thing we’ve got as a collective?I’m sure some of us have, and perhaps many of you, but I had to put it on paper to honor just how much truth I feel in that sentiment. Last night, I opened the li

    August engulfed (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

I wanted to write of the things that have brought levity and joy of late, so I’ll begin there — the garden beds overflowing, the Oxford Blue (it’s purple, though) scabiosa continuing on, the Mothers & Fathers & babes being born, the birthday celebrations, vanilla bean cake, homemade dumplings (that only stressed me out a little bit when made for the mas… Read more

On some cusp (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

The other day as I was walking with Clay I described our next year (the final stretch of our Saturn Returns) “the meat and bones of these cosmic happenings.” When all is so ethereal and ungrounded, what’s better than consuming a day to day life, some fleeting feeling, some season of life, that feels like comfort food — ancestral to whatever degree, thro… Read more
