Late Summer Garden Walk (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Well hello, dear reader. Welcome to September! I had been sharing these garden walk letters on the full moons, but the full Sturgeon Moon, the blood moon, and eclipse has passed us by. I took photos, but obviously, didn’t get around to publishing. I discovered something important about myself this past month. August made me lazy as fuck and I just. couldn’t. manage. to sit in front of a computer. I haven’t fully felt the back to school energy that early fall usually brings, but I had to close so
The Parthenocarpic Pickles (opens the original)

Hello, dear reader! Last year, I planted cucumbers, as I always do. I have a porch off either side of the sunroom with a few chairs that overlook the road and the driveway. I have a small deck that’s built over the septic tank at the top of the garden that fits a single lounge chair. But if I wanted to have people over for a drink or dinner? There is no where in the garden to sit.<div class="captioned
The End of Pea Season (opens the original)
Read excerpt
I harvested the last of my peas last week, officially declaring it the end of pea season. With the summer heat, the end comes to the peas. The vines are starting to yellow, and any flowers buds remaining have been dried to a crisp. There are still a few pods left on the vines, but I’m leaving those to dry to save for planting next year.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!gFXP!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-po
