Monthly Poet (opens the original)

Late last month sent me a link to Monthly Poet and it’s September one poem request - write a sixteen line poem using the following four words: sweet, crust, blues, and flock. Why not? I thought. The quilt is special, not because I had made it, but because I had made it mostly from pieces of fabric left over from various garments I had sewn over the years. <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!IcHs!,f_auto,q_auto

I love stopping off and browsing through the titles stacked on an old wooden table along the windowed front of a wee shop that’s not far from home. When I think about it I realise I’ve never thought to check out its name, it’s always been the quirky Bookshop in the Arcade – a magic maze of second-hand books and nicknacks and DVDs and vinyls and old videos for those who still have working machines. Inside everything is crammed into shelves and bundled into waist high stacks that encroach walking
